This policy explains how EV Design collects, uses and protects your personal information when you use our website (ev-design.co.uk) or contact us.

Who we are

EV Design is a trading brand of JBSE Consulting Engineers Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17242063), whose registered office is at 2 Brassey Street, Ightenhill, Burnley, BB12 8AD.

For the purposes of UK data protection law, JBSE Consulting Engineers Ltd is the “data controller” responsible for your personal data.

What information we collect

We only collect the information you choose to give us, plus — if you agree to analytics cookies — a small amount of statistical data about how the site is used:

• When you contact us (via the enquiry form, email or phone): your name, email address, phone number, the project type you select, and any details you include in your message.
• When you use the website, and only if you accept analytics cookies: usage data through Google Analytics, such as which pages you visit, how you arrived at the site, and which contact links and buttons you click, so we can see which pages lead to enquiries. Google Analytics also records a randomly generated identifier for your browser and an approximate location worked out from your IP address. We never see your name or contact details through analytics, but this data is not fully anonymous, so we treat it as personal data and only collect it with your consent.

We do not collect any special category (sensitive) data, and we do not knowingly collect data from children.

How and why we use your information, and our legal basis

• To respond to your enquiry, discuss your project with you, and provide the information or services you have asked about. Legal basis: our legitimate interests in responding to and managing enquiries about our services and in managing our relationship with potential clients, and, where relevant, taking steps at your request to enter into a contract with you.
• To understand how the website is used and improve it. Legal basis: your consent, which you give via the cookie banner and can withdraw at any time.

We do not send newsletters or bulk marketing emails, we do not add enquirers to mailing lists, and we do not sell your data to anyone. We do not carry out automated decision-making or profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects.

Who we share your information with

We use a small number of trusted service providers (“data processors”) to run the website and handle enquiries. They only process your data on our instructions:

• Web3Forms – processes our enquiry form submissions and delivers them to us by email. Your enquiry is also stored on their systems.
• Our email provider – hosts the business email account your enquiry is delivered to.
• Google Analytics (Google Ireland Limited and Google LLC) – provides website usage statistics, if you accept analytics cookies.
• Cloudflare (Cloudflare, Inc.) – hosts and delivers the website securely.

WhatsApp is different, and is deliberately not listed above. If you choose to message us using the WhatsApp button on this website, your phone number and the contents of your message are handled by WhatsApp Ireland Limited, part of the Meta group. WhatsApp is not acting on our instructions in that exchange — it runs the messaging service in its own right, under its own privacy terms, and those terms govern what it does with your data. On our side we use your message only to respond to your enquiry and discuss your project, exactly as we would an email. Messaging us on WhatsApp is entirely optional: the enquiry form, email and telephone are all alternatives, and we will answer on whichever you choose.

Some of these providers process data outside the UK, including in the United States. Google and Cloudflare are both US-headquartered. Where personal data is transferred outside the UK, it is protected by appropriate safeguards — the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, the UK International Data Transfer Agreement, or standard contractual clauses with the UK Addendum, depending on the provider. You can ask us for details of the safeguards that apply using the contact details above.

We may also disclose information if we are required to do so by law.

How long we keep your information

We keep enquiry information for up to 24 months after our last contact with you, unless you become a client. If you become a client, we keep the relevant records for as long as necessary to provide our services and administer the contract, and afterwards for as long as we need them to meet our legal, accounting and tax obligations, and to establish or defend legal claims where appropriate.

Google Analytics data is held for 14 months, which is the retention period we have set on our Google Analytics property.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to:

• access the personal data we hold about you;
• ask us to correct inaccurate data;
• ask us to delete your data;
• ask us to restrict or object to how we use it;
• request a copy of your data in a portable format;
• withdraw your consent (for example, to analytics) at any time; and
• complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).

Cookies and similar technologies

Cookies are small files stored on your device. Some websites also use similar technologies, such as your browser's local storage. This site uses both, but only in a limited way:

• Remembering your cookie choice. When you choose Accept or Reject, we store that choice in your browser's local storage (not a cookie) so we do not have to ask again on every page. This is needed to respect your choice, so it does not require consent. Your choice is kept for 12 months, after which we will ask again.
• Analytics cookies (Google Analytics). These help us understand how visitors use the site. They are only set if you agree via the cookie banner, and are the cookies named _ga and _ga_SJN1QQKWR2, which last up to 2 years. If you reject analytics, Google Analytics is never loaded and these cookies are never created. If you accept and later change your mind, we switch analytics off and delete these cookies.

We do not use advertising or marketing cookies, and there are no advertising trackers, social media pixels or embedded third-party content on this website.

Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, may also set cookies that are strictly necessary for website security, such as protecting the site against malicious traffic. These are not used to track you.

You can change or withdraw your choice at any time using the “Cookie settings” link in the footer of any page. You can also control cookies through your browser settings. Blocking cookies may affect how the site works.

We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page, with the “last updated” date shown at the top.
