ULTRA-RAPID PUBLIC CHARGING
Mill House, York, High-Capacity Urban Charging Hub

Detailed electrical infrastructure design for a new E.ON Drive ultra-rapid charging hub at Mill House in central York.
The scheme incorporated four Alpitronic HYC300 chargers, providing high-power public charging within a constrained urban site. The supporting infrastructure included a new HV connection, package substation, high-capacity LV distribution and a 2,500 A main switchboard arrangement.
The detailed design covered charger supplies, protection coordination, fault-level assessment, voltage-drop calculations and the design of heavily grouped underground cable systems. Digital load management was also incorporated to ensure the charging demand remained within the agreed supply capacity.
The wider scope included coordinated provision for site lighting, CCTV, equipment protection and safe operation within the public car park.
