ULTRA-RAPID PUBLIC CHARGING

Manchester Charging Oasis, Former Petrol Station Redevelopment

Visualisation of the charging destination: charging bays beneath a planted circular canopy on a former petrol station plot, with a single-storey store, cycle parking and landscaped planting beside a main road

Detailed electrical infrastructure design for the redevelopment of a former petrol station on Oldham Road, Manchester, into a flagship ultra-rapid EV charging destination.

The scheme incorporated Kempower dual-CCS charging pedestals with charging capacity of up to 300 kW, remotely located power banks, accessible and extra-long charging bays, future charging provision and an integrated coffee shop.

The design covered both the AC and DC charging infrastructure, including the high-capacity LV distribution system, AC supplies to the Kempower power banks, DC cable systems between the power banks and charging pedestals, protection coordination, cable sizing, equipment integration and detailed underground duct routing.
